Wouldn't it be great if your dog could follow your hand to find his dropped or fallen treats, retrieve unseen distant objects, and select between objects etc?

While most dogs learn this skill on their own as you train other behaviors, why not make it as easy as possible for your dog to succeed and teach this on its own? It's a fun mind game to teach on rainy or cold days or dogs that are laid up due to surgery. You can use toys and other small objects instead of food. It's a great skill for goofy dogs that can't focus too!

So helpful. I can see how this helps with so many behaviors. Thanks for sharing your skills and that of your pups!

One of my dogs learned this on her own. I never really thought about it much. I could just say, "over there" and point and she would go there to get what I wanted. My other dog ignores where I point, so now I know how to work on training him to go where I point. Good video.

Can you caption this one, too please? It would be very helpful. Thanks.

@anniequilts I found that too! it was frustrating having Lucy do a great series of behaviors, then slow us down by fumbling around for the rewards! Si I realized I needed to teach that skill.
